Our review of the MOPA Show 2014

It took a little while to write this post, but last month we went to the Modern Parenting show at the Hawthorne Country Club in Dartmouth, MA put on by Dennell Pepin, founder of MOPA (ModernParent).

This show was for new and expecting parents and even included brunch with your admission. When we arrived we were greeting and asked to fill out an entry form which entered us into the raffles they were holding for all of these great prizes (a deluxe crib, photography session, containers from The Container Store and others).

We were given a gift bag which contained a few advertisements along with some goodies. We had the chance to eat brunch from a buffet, walk around to the 10 or so exhibitors who had tables and we had the chance to shmooze and learn about items you should have on your baby registry (if you have one) and how to organize the nursery and decorate it easily.

We got to sample some great new products from Happy Family foods (we LOVE the yogurt minis as well as the cookies) and some great cupcakes from the Artisan Bake Shop. We also got some information from the Old Colony network of YMCA's about some membership specials they were running.

All in all this was a great way to spend a few hours of the day learning about some of the latest trends in the baby world. Dennell really has some great insight into what it means to be a parent in these modern times.

NOTE: We were given complimentary admission to the MOPA Show 2014. There was no guarantee of a positive review. However, we did enjoy ourselves (as you can see)!

Drool Baby Expo Recap

We attended the Drool Baby Expo on May 21 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. The first positive was parking was easy since we found a parking spot on the street in no time. When we checked in, the efficient staff directed us downstairs where to our delight, we found the expo to be in a large open room, with lots of open space to walk around in with lots of light. Last year's location was smaller and not as well-lit. There was a great set up with one section having a popup shop with Magic Beans items to purchase, one section having food and another having the various vendors to sample products. Who could forget the great cupcakes provided by Party Favors of Brookline, MA! :) They were really cute and looked adorable. There were flowers, ducks, caterpillars, animals, etc. It would be really cute for a birthday party, shower, etc.

We got there right when it started so it was not terribly crowded and were able to visit just about every booth. This year there was a new twist to the raffle... no collecting beans! Instead there was a scavenger hunt where you simply got signatures from different booths. We easily completed the whole thing as Emily loves being put up to a task! Unfortunately I guess we didn't win any of the raffles since they still haven't called us ;)

We have a Crane humidifier for our daughter and stopped by there and checked out their night light which was pretty cool. We aso talked about getting an optional filter since our water seems to be hard and causes deposits (even when filtered by a Brita pitcher)!

Emily thought the sample sale from Polarn O Pyret was pretty cool and we would love to see those more at other expos. They also had a variety of sizes available which was great - not just infant or baby.

Dave loved trying out the adult-sized version of the Nuna baby seat lounger and swing for babies. He almost fell asleep! We really loved that magic beans had a lot of their favorite items available for purchase at a discount. We had to stock up on the angel dear lovies since our daughter loves them. She was so excited when we brought them home!

We saw our friends from Happy Baby and sampled some of their new treats - we just LOVE the new freeze dried strawberry-carrot munchies! They were SO delicious we even love eating them ;) We also snacked on some great food from Unreal Candy, Pretzel Crisps and more!

We were fortunate enough to attend this event after winning a contest that was put on by The Baby Guy (thanks Jamie!) and even came home with the VIP gift bags which had a bunch of cool items in them from great brands like aden + anais, Chicco Baby, OXO Tot, and Skip Hop along with a $25 gift card to Magic Beans.

NOTE: We were not provided compensation for this post. We did, however, win a VIP ticket and guest ticket from a contest by thebabyguy, but were not asked to write a review of our experience in exchange for anything. We are merely doing it since we had such a great time. All views are 100% our own.

Drool Baby Expo Recap

Last night, Emily and I attended the Drool Baby Expo! We arrived at 5:30 and the place was buzzing with excitement. We went to all of the tables and learned about the latest in baby gear and garb. We sampled Pinkberry yogurt, snacked on HappyBaby food, popchips and pretzel crisps while playing with some toys and checking out the strollers, car seats and endless amounts of toys!

We were excited by a few different items from Wean Green glass containers, Oxo Tot products, Haba toys and Sage Spoonfuls blender/processor product.  We talked with some great people and learned about so many things.

Stay tuned!
